Wistman’s Wood

A while back I visited Wistman’s wood. It was a grey, understated day – one of my favourite times to take the camera for a walk. The stunted oak trees have survived the raw conditions of the moors for hundreds of years and you can really feel the antiquity of the place, it demands a quiet respect. I was drawn to the damp, spongy mosses and lichens that cover every surface of the boulders and dwarfed trees.
